Apple iPhone 3GS hackers have already succeeded in getting the new, faster hardware to run retro games from the Sony PSOne and Nintendo DS.
According to an engadget report, the Apple iPhone 3GS hardware is so fast it can run games from the Sony PSOne (the original PlayStation) and Nintendo DS faster than the original consoles themselves manage – at up to 225 frames-per-second.
Currently, the emulators require serious hacking into the Apple iPhone 3GS, as the 3GS has yet to get a “jailbreak” app for it. And, of course, these emulators require files from the original games to play. All of which can be illegal. So don’t expect the Apple iPhone 3GS App Store to feature these programs any time soon.
Although PocketGamer says there is a chance that the Commodore 64 emulator still will get an official release.
