AT&T iPhone 3G and 3G S officially getting MMS on September 25

After months of speculation (and frustration) MMS for iPhone 3G and 3G S is officially arrive on 25 September, AT & T has confirmed. This is a full 3 days after summer officially ends (AT & T's original term was "late summer") as our own GM said today, but like a lot of things with Apple / AT & T, better late than never.

AT & T posted the following comments on his Facebook page:


      IPhone MMS Update mobility for our customers


      We know that many of our iPhone customers are eager for an update on our schedule launch multimedia messaging service (MMS). We have been working in recent months to prepare our systems and networks to ensure the best possible experience with MMS when it is released - and that is the release date: September 25 for the iPhone 3G and 3GS customers. MMS is enabled via a software update that day.



      We know that iPhone users will include MMS. The unique capabilities and high utilization of the iPhone's multimedia capabilities to work with us in our MMS network architecture to keep track of the expected volumes of MMS traffic and ensure a great experience from day one. We appreciate your patience as we work toward that end.
 


      We are riding the vanguard of the growing smartphone that resulted in an explosion of network traffic from AT & T. Using wireless networks in our network has grown an average of 350 percent year over year for the past two years and is expected to continue at a rapid pace in 2009 and beyond. The traffic volume data on your smartphone from AT & T network is the management is unmatched in the wireless industry. We want you to know that we are working tirelessly to innovate and invest in our network to provide for this growth in use and to stay ahead of the expected growth in demand data, new devices and applications for the coming years.
