If this patent goes through, Apple could have an app called "App ID" for iPhone that allows users to select RFID, the Chamber of entry or infrared to identify objects in their surroundings. Shared by AppleInsider, this patent will revolutionize the way iPhone works. One of the most interesting concerns the filing of a new identification question apparently being developed by Apple that would allow the identification of objects in a user environment so that their iPhone can submit additional information about items identified.
Apple solution requires a new "App ID", which automatically determines users' current environment and allow them to select from a list of detection technology, such as a RFID reader, a camera or a capture device infrared images. Based on the selected mode, the iPhone could then adjust the parameters used for searching a database of identification at a distance, or collection of databases.
"For example, if the user chooses to identify an object in a 'MUSEUM' mode, the portable electronic device can search the database of identification for items that are commonly found in a museum," says Apple. "In some Embodiments, the portable electronic device can determine the location of users to help identify an object. For example, if the user is determined to be in Las Vegas and the portable electronic device is set to a 'RESTAURANT' mode, the device may limit the search for identification data for restaurants in Las Vegas.
