It's summer, a lot of people are going on vacation, and here at TUAW we have been inundated with postcard app. First there was my not-so-glowing review of Postcard Express, and then C-mac published his gaze to the postman 2.0. Today I received a word for something a little 'different - an application that turns your iPhone photos into collages and animated presentations that can then be shared with friends or the world through email, Facebook or Twitter.
Pix Remix [App Store, U.S. $ 2.99] was scheduled for TUAW to WWDC'09, and you can watch the video of Victor the application in action.
Creation of these animated shows is simple and intuitive. If you choose a type of show (collages, slideshows or pan and zoom), select some photos from a camera roll or photo library, then drag, pinch, touch and organize your photos or determine the start and end points of the pan & zoom. Do not like how organized your photos? Just shake your iPhone to allow the application to do the job. You can add titles to each slide, and when you are ready to share your work, you just tap the "send".
However you choose to send your show, the recipient receives a link that leads to the site to view Pix Remix. If another Pix Remix user sends you a show, you can view from within the application.
Jump to developers Associates have done an excellent job to make this bug-free app. It 'one of the cleanest version 1.0 applications that I used over a long period of time, and considering all the technology of external connections and iPhone uses to say that it is a game.
Why just send a postcard to your friends to make them jealous of your vacation when you can send them a Pix Remix show?
