Like Cover Flow for contacts, PhoneFace lets you create a custom favorites list comprised entirely of photos (and/or avatars). In other words, this is a visual alternative to your iPhone bookmarks list. And a terrifying one at that.
To get started, you tap the Plus icon, then choose a contact from the phonebook. If there is already an associated picture, you can click with the iPhone camera, choose a photo from your library, choose an avatar from PhoneFace collection, or even kill his Twitter profile picture (if it is someone you've already followed).
After adding a few contacts, you can browse them how to browse album covers in Cover Flow.
When you select a photo, you'll see a menu that lets you call one of the numbers that the contact, send a text message, or compose an e-mail.
The idea, of course, is that it is easier to find a contact with that face by drilling through a text-based list. It certainly is, and that is why I wish that you could plug the iPhone app icon bookmarks directly to PhoneFace. Having to hunt for the icon kills some 'convenience.
Of course, you can always add to your "dock" icons at the bottom of the screen. My only real complaint with the application is its odd assortment of avatars. A silhouetted cowboy? An astronaut carrying a briefcase? Uh, whatever.
However, if you're a fan of Cover Flow, you'll love PhoneFace. E'99 cents.
Not a fan of Cover Flow? So what is your favorite speed-dial app for iPhone?
