JR Hexatone Pro app for iPhone

E-mail Print PDF

If you are a musician looking for a cheap way to create rhythm wacked-out samples - or just audio nut who wants a new toy on your iPhone - check out the new JR Hexatone Pro  JR Hexatone? Pro  app for iPhone. Created by Starch, the company behind the wicked-fun and surprisingly powerful StarGuitar apps I tried earlier this year, Hexatone was co-produced with Jordan Rudess, who plays keyboards for the prog-metal giants Dream Theater.

How StarGuitar, this is a series of samples of built-in, but also lets you import your own. The honeycomb trippy model is basically a six-dimensional controller, letting you manipulate up to six different repeating audio components (oscillators), and this is a series of effects such as stutter and distortion. But like most sound, the best way to learn how to use it by playing around with it. Finished product can be exported to your computer via Wi-Fi server, where you can further optimize your digital audio workstation of choice.

If this is not enough to shell out $ 9.99, check out the demonstration of Rudella app in the video below:

iPhone Spotlight search

Spotlight search, a feature of high-profile OS 3.0 introduced last month, allows you to search for contacts, appointments, music, mail, and more without the burden of their applications. In other words, it saves time. In theory. Confession time: I have not touched Spotlight once since installing OS 3.0 on my 3G. Sometimes I have spent my applications flicker and landed on the search screen, always pushing the same reaction: "Huh. Have you forgotten it was there."   I used the new e-mail... Read more...
