Where To? tells you 'where to'

E-mail Print PDF

Where to ? Where To? - GPS points of interest is a search engine friendly destination for the iPhone. The latest version is available in the App Store today for U.S. $ 0.99. Note: The iTunes Store said to work on an iPod touch, but some people are reporting will not be installed.

It adapts intelligently maps, web browser, and a tracking mode to show new points of interest as you move. You can share the destiny which is with email, SMS and clipboard.

You can also search any category 600 or request the application be surprised with, for example, recommendation, restaurant.

The application supports English, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese.

How it works Pretty good. It's good to have all the tools you need in one application, although one of my favorite applications, AroundMe [iTunes link] integrates maps, but no browser. AroundMe is free.

It would be nice to have some integration in the new navigation applications that are proliferating because Where? has a database of POIs that much larger then Navigon or TomTom. He saved a POI from Where? in my contacts, and then founded the contact from Navigon and it worked well but is a bit fiddly.

There are some shortcomings in Where To? While searching for some nearby lakes, the application found some companies with "lake" in the name. I think the application is too focused on the company name, not the category meta-data being used.

Overall, this application is worth the original asking price is $ 3.00 and $ 0.99 today would give a safe turn.
