Dev Team Working on PwnageTool to Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1

E-mail Print PDF

Before the release of iPhone OS 3.1, the iPhone Dev-Team legendary had warned all 3GS iPhone 3G users who have unlocked their iPhone jailbreak or to stay away from this firmware update for the iPhone.

Now, once again, they have updated their blog and added the best part of the community to escape. Now, the Dev-Team blog says that we are working on PwnageTool jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1:

We are currently working on PwnageTool 3.1 and make sure you know when it's available!

Remember, every upcoming firmware update not only to update its iPhone operating system, but also its baseband (modem firmware). Once the iPhone baseband is updated, it is almost impossible to unlock the iPhone then.

PwnageTool comes to handle the baseband. PwnageTool allows iPhone users to upgrade to iPhone OS 3.1 while preserving the baseband (no baseband update). Once you stay in the same baseband, means you can use to unlock the iPhone UltraSn0w.

I regret to tell PC users that PwnageTool is for Mac We will let you know as soon as PwnageTool for iPhone OS 3.1 is out.

Jailbreak App - biteSMS for iPhone: Feature-Rich, Easier and Cheaper way to SMS

I send and receive a lot of SMS and have always missed the feature of forwarding messages. I was also looking for a cheaper SMS service (cheaper, not free :)). I thought that carriers would not allow any other SMS app that competes against iPhone's native SMS app. Surprisingly though, the App Store does have number of iPhone apps that claim to send free SMS. Unfortunately, none of these apps deliver and have barely managed to get past the single star rating in the App store. ... Read more...

Tool Released to Downgrade Baseband from 02.30.03 to 02.28.00 for iPhone 3G Users

Apple had released iPhone firmware 2.2.1 back in Jan which included some minor bugs and improvements. However Dev Team had warned against updating to firmware 2.2.1 without preserving the baseband if iPhone 3G users wanted to unlock their iPhone as it also included a baseband update (02.30.03) which breaks the "injection hole" that they had used in their application yellowsn0w to modify the firmware which had helped to successfully unlock iPhone 3G.   There might be some good news for... This demo should show how YellowSn0w can unlock firmware 3.0. I assume this unlock will only work... Read more...

iPhone 3GS Jailbreak/Unlock Coming Soon, Leverages Old Exploit

Not that anyone ever had any doubts that the Dev Team would be able to work their magic on the 3GS, but this is quick: within a week of the phone's launch, the hackers say they've figured it out. The Dev Team says that the 3GS is vulnerable to the same "24Kpwn" bootrom exploit that plagues the iPod Touch 2G—an unpatchable, un-updatable route of access for jailbreakers. Additionally, they expect to be able to unlock the phone with the ultrasn0w tool, using familiar techniques.   What... Read more...

DevTeam Updates PwnageTool for Mac, iPhone 3.1.2 Now Supported

PwnageTool for Mac has been updated to version 3.1.4 by the DevTeam. This new update basically adds firmware 3.1.2 jailbreak support. It currently supports jailbreaking all the devices except iPod Touch 3G.       PwnageTool is currently compatible with Intel Mac only. The reason some would prefer it to blackra1n is that it allows you to ‘hacktivate’ the phone (use it without AT&T’s iPhone data plan) and the unlock is preserved even through firmware updates. However, to... Read more...
