Two researchers have found an iPhone bug that virus could infect phones using SMS. Will reveal that the iPhone is still unpatched bug in the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas on Thursday. PwnageTool for Mac has been updated to version 3.1.4 by the DevTeam. This new update basically adds firmware 3.1.2 jailbreak support. It currently supports jailbreaking all the devices except iPod Touch 3G. PwnageTool is currently compatible with Intel Mac only. Apple had released iPhone firmware 2.2.1 back in Jan which included some minor bugs and improvements. However Dev Team had warned against updating to firmware 2.2.1 without preserving the baseband if iPhone 3G users wanted to unlock their iPhone as it also included a baseband update (02.30.03) which breaks the "injection hole" that they had used in their application yellowsn0w to modify the firmware which had helped to successfully unlock iPhone 3G. I send and receive a lot of SMS and have always missed the feature of forwarding messages. I was also looking for a cheaper SMS service (cheaper, not free :)). I thought that carriers would not allow any other SMS app that competes against iPhone's native SMS app. Surprisingly though, the App Store does have number of iPhone apps that claim to send free SMS.
