Rearranging the iPhone Home Screen Icons

E-mail Print PDF
Starting with iPhone software 1.1.3, you can rearrange the icons on the iPhone’s home screen, including moving them to other screens. Here’s how it all works.

Many iPhone Screens

Whereas before 1.1.3 the iPhone had just one page of icons, now it can have up to 9. This allows you to fill your iPhone menus full of programs and web clips and scroll through those pages in an easy-to-manage way. Items in the dock are consistent across all screens and don’t change.

Rearranging iPhone Icons

To rearrange the iPhone’s home screen icons, do the following:

  • Tap an icon and hold your finger on it until the icons start shaking
  • When the icons are shaking, you can rearrange them in whatever order you want (icons have to swap places on the screen, though. They can’t be moved to empty space)
  • To move the icon to a new page, just drag the icon off the screen to the right or left
  • When the icon is in the place you want it, let it go
  • To confirm the changes, tap the iPhone’s home button

Scrolling Through iPhone Pages

If you have more than one page of icons on your iPhone after rearranging them, you can scroll through the pages either by flicking them left or right, just like in CoverFlow, or by tapping the white icons just above the dock. The white icons indicate how many pages you have.

Fix for slow-responding taps on an iPhone 3GS

While playing games, specifically Wild West Pinball, it seemed like all the taps weren't registering properly. Also, when I pressed both flippers at the same time, there was a slight delay. I thought this was a glitch in the game. But as I used more multi-touch games, it seemed something was wrong with my phone. Before resorting to complaining to Apple, I thought of... Read more...

Loudest speaker volume ever?

I think I’ve found a way to get the loudest speaker volume on an iPhone or have stupidly messed up my tiny speaker on my iPhone. But the honest true, it works NICE & CLEAR… I was playing around with trying to get my iphone speaker volume louder and my ringtones, but I wasn’t happy with the different changes on my “SystemSoundMaximunVolume.plist” so, I grabbed a needle and sticked it into every single tiny hold on the bottom left corner of the iPhone. I think it was dirty in there or... Read more...
