UltraTips to Deal with UltraSn0w Issues

E-mail Print PDF

Dev-Team has recently updated their UltraSn0w to 0.9 version to address many issues in the earlier version. But some of them, freeing users with iPhone UltraSn0w are still problems.

To address these questions, the Dev-Team has posted the following UltraTips:

      * Unusual depletion of the battery is almost always caused by people who choose to "Restore from
backup" instead of "as the installer new iPhone" when iTunes asks you to. This is not caused by either the jailbreak or unlock, but it is a common 3.0 Snafu. The fix is to just re-run the official 3.0 Restore and select "Set as new" this time. Your music and all applications and that will still be synchronized, but you get rid of any conflict WiFi, Bluetooth, or settings of the carrier. Then re-run redsn0w and install ultrasn0w.
      * Remember, ultrasn0w works with phones hacktivated too, but not smart redsn0w thought there is no need hacktivation! If you do not plan to use an official sim is not activated through iTunes with a sim. Just keep your sim is not official, at any time, and let redsn0w and ultrasn0w manage hacktivation:)

      * T-Mobile in the United States does not use the iPhone 3G frequencies that support, so turn off 3G in Settings-> General-> Network. (Some of T-Mobile areas grace the hands of Edge mode, but most do not).

      * Some plans do not have official restrictions where you can make calls and use data at the same time. That's not related release.
      * Some people have installed previous versions of ultrasn0w using non-standard techniques. While the ultrasn0w 0.9 update should have removed all previous versions of ultrasn0w, these users may have outsmarted our removal. So, make sure you do not even see / usr/bin/ultrasn0w present if you're a ultrasn0w 0.9 (which does not have this track more).
      * If you do not need to update or plan ultrasn0w 0.9 from an earlier version, you can avoid having red badge that besides removing Cydia repo666 as a source of Cydia. Do not worry, you can always add later:) If you follow us on Twitter you will be informed of any new updates anyway.

Are you one of those who are still problems after the releae of UltraSn0w 0.9?

Rotation Inhibitor: SBSettings Toggle Allows you to Disable Accelerometer

Rotation Inhibitor: SBSettings Toggle Allows you to Disable Accelerometer Though the accelerometer is one of the coolest features of the iPhone, I find it annoying everytime I move around in bed while reading on the iPhone, as the screen keeps rotating. I finally got fed up the other day and had to figure out a way to disable the accelerometer/screen rotation.   Luckily, I stumbled upon a SBSettings Toggle aptly called Rotation Inhibitor which allows you to disable the... iPhone for Newbies: Honey, I shrunk the manual

Caveat Emptor: This is for newbies only. If you've been around, you probably don't need this. When I bought my last Verizon phone, it came with about three quarters of a pound of paper housed in three manuals allowing me to find just about anything through the index. Yeah, it was overkill -- but at least I knew where to go to learn about an option or feature. When I opened my iPhone 3GS, I quickly searched for the documentation to show me how use this puppy. All I found was an... Read more...

Disable 3G on the iPhone 3G For More Talk but Less Speed

Apple rates the iPhone 3G’s talk time at 5 hours over the high-speed 3G network. While the call quality seems vastly improved due to more data being passed through the 3G pipe, some of the more chatty among us may find that 3G isn’t just fast — it’s non-user-replaceable-battery draining fast!   Don’t care as much about speed and clarity as you do sheer volume of talk time? Or what if you’re just in an area that’s not (yet?) covered by 3G? You’re in luck! Apple has provided... Read more...

Best iPhone Applications for WebMasters

“Once you use it, you won’t know how you ever survived without it” is a well worn cliche, applied over the years to every new technological development or advancement in gadgetry made available to the masses. Because it’s actually true, and none more so than when talking about iPhone apps. You could... Read more...
